My Data was developed to help you keep track of any Topic that can be described in four parameters. My Data is freeware.
Use Command-Q to quit My Data.
The Topics window lets you enter any number of Topics. The Topics window has a table with five columns. A row is used for each Topic which will have four columns (parameters). Enter the name of a Topic into the first field and the names of up to four parameters related to that Topic in fields two through five and click on the "Add Topic" button. The maximum number of characters in Topics window's fields is 15. To make changes to cells in a Topics Window row, click on the row, make the changes in the fields below, and click on the "Update" button. To delete a Topics Window row, click the row and click the "Delete" button. You will be asked to confirm that you really want to delete that Topic. Hold down the Shift key when you click the "Delete" button if you do not wish to be challenged.
When you click on a Topics Window row and then click the "Use" button (or double-click a Topics Window row), the Specific Topic Window opens. The Specific Topic Window's title is the Specific Topic. This window has a table with four columns named as entered in the Topic Window's columns 2-5. Enter information related to each of the named parameters (columns) and click the "Add Row" button. Up to 25 characters are permitted in Specific Topic Window's fields 1, 2, and 4. This version supports 80 characters in field 3 (Speciality in the above screeenshot). Tabs and Carriage Returns are not allowed in these fields. Field 3 supports "word wrap" so just keep on typing. To make changes to cells in a Specific Topic Window's row, click on the row, make changes in the fields below, and click the 'Update" button. To delete a row, click on the Specific Topic row and click the "Delete" button. You will be asked to confirm that you really want to delete that Topic. Hold down the Shift key before you click on the "Delete" button if you do not wish to be challenged.
Example of how My Data could be used:
As shown above, the Topics Window might have two Specific Topics: Doctors and Medicines. The parameters (columns) for Doctors could be Name, Telephone #, Street Address, and Speciality. The parameters for Medicines could be Name, Dosage per Day, Prescription or OTC (Over The Counter), and Purpose (blood pressure, diabetes, sleep, anxiety, etc.) After using My Data for a while, you might want to keep track of Contractors so you add that Topic to the Topics Window table and use parameters of Name, Telephone #, Speciality (plumbing, electrical, sewage, landscaping, etc.), and Insured?. Then, you populate the Specific Topic Window (Contractor in this example) with information that you might have scattered throughout the house and have difficulty finding.
All columns of the Topics window and Specific Topic window can be sorted independently, A-Z and Z-A.
Use "File / Print Information" to print information in the table on the Topics and Specific Topic windows. Use "File / Print Help" to print Help information.
The height of the Topics Window and the Specific Topic Window can be changed by dragging each window's lower right corner.
The location and size of both windows and their data are saved automatically between sessions.
